The Young Researchers’ Day (JJC 2024) was opened by François STEPHAN (General Director), Assia SOUKANE (Research Director), and Waleed MOUHALI (Researcher-Teacher) last Thursday at the Faire Liens space. Summary of the event.

“My Thesis in 180 Seconds”

It was Catherine KUSZLA, Research Dean of the OMNES Education group who hosted the awards for the best presentation “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” and the best poster.

She took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of interdisciplinarity in research projects and training.

Doctoral students from LyRIDS participated in the concept “My Thesis in 180 Seconds”, an exercise that requires both a strong sense of synthesis as well as ease in communication. Youssef AL OZAIBI, Melchior ARNAL, Rémi BOUCHAYER, Maria KANDYLI, Alexandre LAMBERT, and Maxime TOQUEBIAU participated.

And the winners are…

Testimonials from Alumni of the Research & Development Minor

Both former students of ECE, former classmates and friends, LyRIDS welcomed, in order of appearance, Nicolas CHOLLET and Louise DENIS.

Nicolas CHOLLET

Alumni of ECE and particularly active within associations such as ECEBORG or JBTV, Having just defended his thesis at ECE, “Semantic IoT platform compatible with embedded AI for agroecology”, Nicolas shared his student journey with us, particularly within the school, leading to his current experience as a Research Engineer at Sherpa Engineering. This is a lab that collaborates closely with a farm to modernize agriculture, notably with the help of robotics.

Louise DENIS

Louise presented her thesis “Clinical transfer of super-resolved ultrasound: application in the human kidney and brain” which aims to improve medical imaging for better patient diagnosis.

2 joint winners for the Student Posters of the Minor in Research & Development

Identification and measurement of stress with machine learning

Akshaya KONESALINGAM and Sreevatsa RAVIKANTH sought to identify physiological data related to stress from a database, predict it using algorithms, and perform statistical validation, with the goal of effectively predicting stress. They worked with Guilherme MEDEIROS MACHADO, Amine JAOUADI, and Faiza BELBACHIR.

Sentiment analysis: Sexist

Ouiza MANSEUR and Thomas Roustan worked with Faiza BELBACHIR on detecting sexism using LLMs (Large Language Models). To do this, it was necessary to define it and adapt to the languages used on social networks, particularly X (formerly Twitter).
