What is a Defense and Technology Engineer Program?
The digitization of conflicts and the resurgence of strategic threats are profoundly redefining the needs for Defense engineers. The Defense and Technology Engineer Program at ECE is a unique major in the engineering cycle, taught in French on the Paris campus.
Over 2 years (2nd and 3rd year of the Engineering cycle), you will acquire a solid foundation of digital skills (cybersecurity, data, AI), while being trained on the strategic issues of the Ministry of Armed Forces and the Defense Industrial and Technological Base (BITD). A training designed with and for the sector’s stakeholders.

The targeted professional certification
This major leads to the title of ECE engineer, a degree accredited by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur (CTI) and registered at RNCP level 7. Recognized by defense companies, the armed forces, and state bodies, this degree qualifies you to take on engineering responsibilities in environments with high stakes in national and technological sovereignty.
ECE is a member of the Conference of Grandes Écoles (CGE) and the OMNES Education group.

Content
The program relies on the interventions of numerous defense professionals and military officers, who enrich the courses with real case studies and concrete feedback. The courses presented below may evolve each year to remain aligned with the operational needs of the sector.
Evaluation methods
Progress is assessed throughout the two years, through methods designed to reflect the requirements of the Defense sector:
- Technical projects directly related to real operational issues, presented before industry professionals.
- Visits to military and industrial sites, integrated into the module end evaluations.
- The Multidisciplinary Team Project (PPE) and the End-of-Studies Project (PFE).
- A minimum 6-month engineering internship in a Defense company or military organization, with a report and presentation.
- The mandatory international academic stay, validated with a partner university of ECE.

How to apply for the Defense and Technology Engineering Program?
Admission in the 2nd year of the engineering cycle
The major is available to ECE students who have completed the first three years of the engineering cycle. A parallel admission is open to holders of a validated 4-Year degree (240 ECTS) in a scientific and technical field: computer science, networks, electronics, or embedded systems. A marked interest in defense and national sovereignty issues is expected.
