What is the Engineer Cycle – Health and Technology Major?
The Health and Technology Engineering Program at ECE, taught in French on the Paris campus, places engineers alongside doctors and patients to design the medical solutions of tomorrow.
This 2-year major (2nd and 3rd years of the Engineer Cycle) presents applications of engineering training in professions directly or indirectly related to health. It provides the necessary medical knowledge and vocabulary for communication between the engineer, the patient, and health professionals.
It also enables the creation of a strong network of contacts in this rapidly expanding sector. This major places the engineer in a position to better understand illness or disability and to center the end user in the designer’s concerns

The targeted professional certification
The Health and Technology Engineering Program leads to the title of ECE engineer, a level 7 diploma accredited by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur (CTI), registered with RNCP no. 7124. This diploma certifies an excellent training combining digital engineering and expertise in the fields of health, research, and biology. ECE is a member of the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE).

The content
The program is based on the official courses of the major, enriched with additional common trunk modules in languages, management, and humanities, as well as a selection of minors and deepening options. The courses may evolve each year before the start of the academic year.
Assessment Methods
Progress is assessed throughout the two years through methods that reflect the requirements of the medical and technological sectors:
- Design projects for medical devices or health-connected objects.
- Practical work related to clinical cases and real patient issues.
- The Multidisciplinary Project in Team (PPE) and the Final Year Project (PFE).
- A report and a defense before a jury at the end of each internship
- An international academic stay is mandatory in the 1st or 3rd year of the Engineering program, validated with a partner university of ECE.

Application
How to apply for the Health and Technology Engineering Program?
Admission to the 1ᴉ³ year of the engineering cycle
Open to students who have completed the first two years after their high school diploma of the Engineering Program at ECE, or in parallel admission for students coming from the second year of CPGE and for holders of a 3rd year undergraduated validated by 180 ECTS (ATS, BUT, License) in a scientific and/or technical field.
Admission to the 2ᴉ year of the engineering cycle
Open in parallel admission for holders of a 4-Year degree validated by 240 ECTS in engineering, electronics, computer science, or in a related scientific field.
Regardless of the entry level, a strong aptitude for applications of engineering in the medical field is expected. This program thus allows varied profiles to join an excellence training recognized by the CTI.
How to apply?
- I submit my application online > on the common process AVENIR PLUS, if I am currently enrolled in a program of the French educational system (SEF) > on the ECE portal, if I am currently enrolled in a program outside of the French educational system and I am not of European nationality.
- I go through the selection phase. Regardless of the portal: > Study of the application file by an ECE academic selection jury > Motivation interview by another ECE selection jury
- I receive the decision

Yes. The presentation of the 3rd year of the Engineering cycle includes teachings dedicated to neuroscience & implants (50h) and to computer-assisted surgery, modeling, and digital twin (50h). These cutting-edge modules expose students to the most advanced technologies in interventional medicine.
