Engineer Cycle – Cybersecurity Major

  • Understand IT security issues and develop the technological knowledge needed to address cyber threats.

  • Design, develop, and manage secure information systems, integrating network architectures and IT infrastructures.

  • Gain a thorough understanding of defensive cybersecurity, identity and access management (IAM), and data protection.

  • Lead the incident response, ensure service continuity, and manage security crises.

  • Understanding regulatory frameworks and compliance standards: GDPR, NIS 2, ISO 27001.

  • Lead cybersecurity teams and security transformation projects in a variety of industrial settings.

    The content

    The courses presented below are provided as examples. They may vary slightly depending on market developments. The content is updated each year before the start of the school year.

    60 ECTS credits/year

    Information Systems and Networks

    • Architecture of information systems and networks
    • Network protocols and communication security
    • Administration of Linux and Windows systems
    • Virtualization and cloud infrastructures

    Fundamental Cybersecurity

    • Cryptography and transaction security
    • Web and mobile application security
    • Introduction to identity and access management (IAM)
    • Vulnerability analysis and penetration testing (beginner)

    Law and Governance of Security

    • Legal framework for cybersecurity in France and Europe
    • Introduction to ISO 27001 and GDPR standards
    • Information systems security policy (PSSI)

    Management and Project

    • Project management in cybersecurity
    • Team management in crisis situations
    • Technical English for cybersecurity
    • Multidisciplinary Project in Teams (PPE)

    Minimum 4-month Technician Internship (or alternating throughout the year)

    90 ECTS credits/year

    Advanced Defensive Cybersecurity

    • SOC (Security Operations Center): detection and analysis of threats
    • SIEM, EDR, and security monitoring tools
    • Threat Intelligence and cyber threat analysis
    • Incident response and digital forensics

    Identity and Access – Microsoft Focus

    • Advanced identity and access management (IAM)
    • Microsoft Azure Active Directory and cloud identity solutions
    • Zero Trust Architecture and microsegmentation
    • Identity protection and compromise detection

    Infrastructure and Cloud Security

    • Security of cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP)
    • DevSecOps and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines
    • Security of hybrid and multi-cloud architectures
    • Security of connected objects and industrial systems (OT/ICS)

    Compliance, audit, and governance

    • Security audit and advanced penetration tests
    • NIS2, DORA, and European regulatory compliance
    • Cyber risk management and business continuity

    Innovation and minor

    • Minor of choice: cross-cutting in digital technologies
    • Deepening option: growth sector or cutting-edge expertise
    • Valuation of Student Projects (VPE) – IDEFI program
    • Final Project (PFE)

    Engineering internship – minimum 6 months  (or alternating throughout the year)

    Mandatory academic stay in the 3rd year of the Engineering cycle under Student/Apprentice status (if it has not been completed in the 1st year of the Engineering cycle) or the possibility of undertaking professional missions abroad within the framework of the hosting company for any student under apprentice status.

    Assessment Methods

    • Technical projects, both individual and team-based, grounded in real cybersecurity issues.
    • Practical laboratory work: attack simulations, forensics, SOC configuration.
    • A Team Multidisciplinary Project (PPE) and the Final Year Project (PFE).
    • An engineering internship of at least 6 months, or a work-study program, with a report and defense before a jury.
    • An obligatory international academic stay, validated by a partner university of ECE.

    Job ready

    • An engineering internship of at least 4 months during the second year of the engineering program (full-time track) or a work-study program

    • An internship lasting at least 6 months or a work-study program during the third year of an engineering program, culminating in a final engineering project (PFE).

    • A mandatory international academic exchange in one of the 160 academic programs offered by ECE's partner universities.

    • Projects in partnership with Microsoft and Orange Cyberdéfense, co-founders of the major.
